I volunteered with Judy at the Detroit Institute of Arts and came to know her as a lovely and charming person full of spirit, cheerfulness and a love and joy of life. My heart goes out to you in your loss, and I hope that the caring of family and friends will bring you some comfort at this difficult time.

I knew Judy through volunteering at the DIA. She was such a lovely person. I looked forward to seeing her whenever we were at the museum together.
Judy has been my friend for 34 years. We have seen each other through the deaths of our mothers, weddings, births, surprise parties, New Year's eve galas, ballroom dances, DIA visits, impromptu swims in Lake Huron and the obligatory sand angels after.
She was a hair stylist, a nurse, and a compassionate and competent caregiver to family members at the end of their lives. Her eye for beauty is impeccable and insatiable.
She is gracious and charming; perhaps she should have been born a southern belle, "...as slightly made and as hard to break as a rapier blade..." Her opinions were forthright to the point of being blunt. I always know where I stand with her. It is hard to imagine that I will never again share a cup of coffee and confidences with her.
Lavishly loving and fiercely loyal, she fell hard for Paul Bruer, although she always said she'd never marry a doctor. ("It's the hours," she explained.) She had found her ideal love, friend, and traveling companion. Her years in the house on the river were her most content. "This is the life!" she once exclaimed. Thank you Paul for taking very good care of my very good friend.
Now in the arms of her LORD, she is at peace. Although, she may be peaking to see if this wouldn't look better over there...LOL! Heaven is the better for her presence.
Dr. Bruer and family - Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Judith's picture shows that she is beautiful, inside and out. A spirit filled with joy, peace and love. She has the kind of heart that God loves to have around Him. He chose her for this time even if it doesn't feel right. She will light up Heaven's garden. There are no more silent nights. She will hear the angels sing all through eternity and she will love you from there until again face to face you'll be. Peace to you the kind that only God can give and prayers will continue in the days ahead. Georgine Siudym
I know Judy through the DIA...we are fellow docents. The time I spent with her was always enjoyable. She brought energy and enthusiasm to touring. I always marveled at how far she traveled to get to the DIA to share her knowledge and love of art to those who were lucky enough to be on her tours. Giovannina Maio
As a fellow DIA volunteer, I was fortunate to know and work with Judy. I will always remember her kind and gentle spirit and her beautiful smile. My deepest sympathy to her family.
Sincere sympathy from the St Clair Art Association family- Judy was a very talented painter and we thoroughly enjoyed being in a watercolor workshop with her- just a year ago.
God bless🙏
I trained with Judy at the DIA in 2006 and I have enjoyed her smile and laughter and feel honored to know her. Her qualities will always be with us. She is and always will be a wonderful child of God.
