James "Jim" McCormick's Obituary
James (Jim) McCormick of Marquette, MI, formerly of St. Clair, MI, died June 28, 2023 at the Trillium Hospice House in Marquette, MI after a brief, yet brave, battle with cancer.
Jim was born in St. Clair, MI on December 7th, 1953, son of Joseph and Anna (Deaner) McCormick, the third of four children. He attended school and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1972. Following graduation, Jim moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to attend college at Northern Michigan University in Marquette and earned his degree in Sociology. While at NMU Jim began dating the late Jane (Haligowski) McCormick and they were married on October 23rd, 1981. Jim retired from St. Clair County Friend of the Court after 25 years where he was employed as a Judicial Services Coordinator.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren…he lit up in their presence and loved to spoil them with cookies and treats. Jim was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Detroit Red Wings, playing golf, and skiing. You could always count on Jim for a punchline and witty one-liner. He will be missed.
