Dennis (Denny) Clinton White's Obituary
Dennis (Denny) Clinton White, 77, of Marysville, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and coach, passed away on January 22. Dennis was born on October 27, 1945, in Port Huron, the oldest child of Clinton and Edna White. He grew up attending St. Christopher’s School and Marysville High School. Denny played varsity football for Coach Bob Sullivan on the 1963 state championship team (as well as pole vaulting). Denny graduated in 1963 and attended first Ferris State College and then Central Michigan University, encouraged to do so by Coach Sullivan.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen White; his three siblings, Richard, Gregory, and Janet all of Marysville; three children Melanie (Brooklyn, NY) Stephen (St. Clair), and Sarah (Marysville); five grandchildren Brandon, Mikaela, Eamonn, Xander, and Adele; great granddaughter, Harper. Denny also has three step-children Frederick, Michael (Candy), and Bethanie George; 5 step-grandchildren, Allison, Kyle, Kasey, Larry, Amanda; and his cat, Jamison.
Denny is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cheryl.
After having worked as an athletic trainer at Saginaw Arthur Hill High School, Denny first coached baseball (as well as football) at Newaygo High School in Newaygo, MI in 1970. During 35 years coaching baseball (as well as freshman and junior varsity football) at St. Clair High School, initially as the pitching coach under Richie Mallewitz and then Bill McElreath, from 2015-2021 Denny was the Head Coach of the varsity team. He also coached for St. Clair County Community College, St. Clair Little League, several travel teams, and most recently, this past fall, Marysville High School. Over the years, Dennis has coached just shy of 1,000 high school baseball games.
In 2011, with Denny as the pitching coach, St. Clair High School won the State Championship title, and in 2015, with Denny as Head Coach, the 13-year-old St. Clair All-Star team won the State Championship and advanced to the semifinals of the Little League regionals.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 24th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair.
