William R. Ingles' Obituary
William R. “Bill” Ingles, age 85 of St. Clair passed away Thursday, July 30,2009.
Bill was born September 6, 1923 in St. Clair to the late Fred and Polly Ingles.
Bill graduated from St. Clair High School, Class of 1943 where he played basketball, football and baseball. Bill married June Bell, June 3, 1944. He owned a milk delivery business in St. Clair and Marysville, and worked for the Detroit Times and then the Detroit News until 1985, when he retired from the News. He also started the St. Clair Auto Parts Store with Jim Blake. Bill was an avid woodworker and he and June enjoyed traveling and attending auto racing events. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Blue Water Sports Car Club.
Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, June Ingles, his sons Robert, Clifford, Thomas, David (Alaina) and daughter Deborah; grand children Billy, Dawn, Lucas, Nicholas, Peter, Monika, Kim, Carmen, T.J., Nathan and Kellie; 9 great grand children, and one brother James Ingles.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Penny, daughter-in-law Peggy, grand son Matthew ,
brothers, Fred and Alfred and sister Rosetta.
Visitation Sunday in the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair from 7-9 PM.
In state Monday at the First Congregational Church from 12 noon until service at 1PM in the church. Memorials may be made to the church or the St. Clair Historical Museum.
