Vern R. Campbell's Obituary
Vern R. Campbell age 86 of St. Clair died Sunday, September 2, 2007. Vern was born
March 30, 1921 in St. Clair to the late Colin and Helena Campbell. Vern sailed on the Great Lakes until WW II when he entered the US Navy. He married Gladys Balfour January 23, 1943.
Vern retired from the water department of the City of St. Clair after many years of service.
He was a member of the Beautification and the Housing commissions for the City of St. Clair
and an active member of the First United Methodist Church, St. Clair. He was a member of the Moslem Temple, Detroit; 32nd degree Scottish Rite, Detroit; Blue Water Shrine Club, Port Huron; Blue Water Scottish Rite Club, Port Huron; Royal Arch Masons, Chapter 12, St. Clair and Evergreen Lodge # 9, St. Clair.
He is survived by his wife Gladys, his daughters, Jean (Dan) Saunders, Patricia Campbell, and Jackie (Tom) Laughlin, 4 grand children, Hannah (Mick) Hannan, Jonas (Shelly) Saunders,
Matt (Kate) Laughlin and Andrew (Jennifer) Laughlin, 7 great grand children, Campbell, Lilly, Phoebe, Zoë, Porter, Clara and Jackson, one sister Erva Mok. Vern was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Campbell and a brother Ray Campbell.
Visitation at the L.C.Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, Monday 6-8 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM with Masonic service Tuesday evening at 7:15 in the Funeral Home.
In state Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, St. Clair from 10:30 AM until service at 11:00 AM. Burial in Hillside Cemetery. Memorials to the Linda R. Campbell Nursing Fund C?O Moffitt Cancer Foundation, the church or the Evergreen Lodge # 9
