Tony Cavis' Obituary
Anthony John Cavis of St. Clair, MI passed away December 16, 2022 with his family at his side. Tony was born October 2, 1947 in Port Huron to the late George G. Cavis and Laura Marie (Gardner) Cavis. He attended St. Stephens and Port Huron Catholic High schools, followed by 2 years at Port Huron Junior College and 2 years at Western Michigan University, where he graduated with a degree in Education.
"Mr. Cavis" taught English at Marine City High School for more than 30 years. All of those years, except for 1, were in the same classroom. Tony was very active in the St. Clair Theatre Guild, serving in leadership, acting and back stage roles. He was also very proud of his service on the planning committee for the St. Clair Sesquicentennial. He also loved traveling, especially to his father's homeland of Greece.
Tony's real joy in life was his family. He loved his roles as husband, Dad, father-in-law, and Papou.
He will be most missed by Janelle, his wife of 45 years, sons Jared (Sarah), Andrew (Emilee), daughter Laura and grandchildren Eva, Isla, and Anthony. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Sharon Cavis, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss his humor and devotion to family.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents George and Laura Cavis, his in-laws Jack and Dorothy White, his brother George T. Cavis, sister Elaine (Cavis) Tomlinson, and brother in-law, Richard Tomlinson.
Following Tony's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
