Mrs Shirley A Downey's Obituary
Shirley Ann Downey passed away peacefully at home after a long illness surrounded by her family. She was born in St. Clair February 22, 1938 to the late Walter H. and Mary I. LaCroix.
Shirley married Paul Downey July 15, 1961. She was a life long resident of St. Clair, and worked a variety of jobs until retiring from Blue Water Plastics in 2003.
She loved swimming-even swan across the St. Clair River. Shirley had
a kind heart and was very talented with her hands, helping others, painting, crafts, crocheting, knitting, gardening and sewing. She shared a special love for animals, especially her cats, and had a great love for her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Paul, son Michael Dean Downey, daughters, Paula (Walter) Horton and April (Bucky) Boucher, grand children Monica, Walter Jr., Ashley Horton, Autumn and Abbey Boucher, brothers
Jerry (Mabel) LaCroix, Richard (Catherine) LaCroix, Jon (Glenda) LaCroix, sisters
Gloria (Randy) Schantz, and Diane (Ted) Topper. In addition to her parents Shirley was also preceded in death by her brother Walter LaCroix III.
Visitation Monday from 2-9 PM in the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service 11 AM Tuesday in the funeral home, with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Memorials to Blue Water Hospice
