Richard F. Woods' Obituary
Richard F. Woods 81 died Sunday December 7th, 2008 at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, SC.
He was born in Flint, MI and graduated from Flint Northern High School.
He was a U.S. Naval Aviation Corp. Veteran, serving the Pacific Theater during WWII.
He was a graduate of ITT, School of Architecture and Design and practiced in Flint, Saginaw and Detroit.
Dick was a former President of Fisher Insley Corp. and owner of STA-Kool Air Systems, Marine City, MI. Owner of R.F. Woods Construction Co. and RJM Development LLC of St. Clair, MI.
As a former president of the St. Clair River Country Club and an avid golfer, he was instrumental in forming a group of 20 member investors to purchase the club in 1981.
For twenty years he served as Managing Partner of Golf Club Investment Co., President of Par Clair, Inc. dba St. Clair Golf Club and ten years as Resident Agent for Golfside Development LLC.
He was a former Director of the Marine City Chamber of Commerce. A former member of the Marine City Planning Commission and the St. Clair Lions Club, and a member of St. Mary’s Church.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judith A (Toal) Woods of Mt. Pleasant, SC, sons, Michael J Woods (Allison) of Charleston, SC. and Richard J. Woods (Peggy) of Grand Blanc, MI., a daughter Kris Hannon (Ken), two granddaughters, Sara (Rob) of Los Angeles, CA., and Simone Indianer of Clearwater Florida, and a great-granddaughter, Luna of Los Angeles, CA.
His father Wesley J. Woods and mother, Ruth (Brenner) Woods of Flint, and brother James Woods (Joyce) of Swartz Creek proceed him in death.
Visitation will be held at Friederichs and Son Funeral Home 214 Trumbull St. Clair, MI Thursday December 11, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 12 Noon In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, the Medical University of South Carolina or to the charity of their choice.
