Milton Clare Brown's Obituary
Milton Clare Brown, age 77, of St. Clair, died peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2004.Son of U.S. Coast Guard Commander Joseph and Edna Brown, he was born May 14, 1926 in Pointe Aux Barques, Michigan. He married Ruby Catherine Boursaw on November 10, 1945. She died on March 20, 1983. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Bezenah of Caro, Terri and Mick Anderson of Bloomfield Hills, Karen and Ken Distelrath of St. Clair and Sharon Edgar of Coconut Creek, Florida; a son, Milton James of Fort Gratiot; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) House, Todd (Jennifer) Bezenah, Marci (Rodger) Achatz, Brooke (Jon) Greetis, Mason Bowman, Kelly Brown, Wendy Brown and James (Julia) Brown; great-grandchildren, Caitie and Emily House, Will Bezenah, Travis, Derrick and Kenzie LaParl, Zachary and Sydney Achatz, Ella Greetis, Mason and Julian Brown; brothers, Elwood (Arilien) of Seattle, WA and Frank (Claire) of Marysville; sisters, Josephine (Murray) Hirst of St. Petersburg, FL, Gladys (Steve) Kovach of Lakeland, FL and Jean (Wilbur) Whitten of Lynchburg, VA; brother-in-law, Dale Schissler of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles (Beatrice) Brown of Port Huron and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kenneth James Distelrath, Jr.; his brother, Charles; sister, Betty Schissler and son-in-law, James Edgar. Milton attended Port Huron Junior College briefly before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943 and was stationed at Keesler Field, Mississippi, assigned to the 3074th Air Force Base Unit. He was given an honorable medical discharge in January of 1945. A lifelong resident of the St. Clair area, he retired from the Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of dedicated service. His second career spanned 25 years in the sport he loved, during which he managed Pyma Valley Golf Club in Ohio, Oak Ridge Golf Club in New Baltimore and most recently, Pine Shores Municipal Golf Club in St. Clair from 1986 to 1999. The family requests that memorials be made to either the Kenny Distelrath Memorial Fund in honor of his grandson or to Lighthouse Hospice. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the L. C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home with Rosary at 8 PM Thursday.
