Michael Alfred Kohlruss' Obituary
Michael Alfred Kohlruss, age 71, of Sterling Heights, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 23, 2022. He was born June 9, 1951 in Detroit to the late John and Doris Kohlruss. Michael was raised in St. Clair Shores, graduating class of 1969 from Lake Shore High School where he was a part of the high school marching band. He was a member of Junior Achievement. In 1968, at 16 years old he earned Mr. Executive which was the organizations highest accomplishment. It was in Junior Achievement where he met his future wife, Judy Trumbull. The two were married on July 10, 1971. Michael worked as a banker for the same company for 50 years, going through 5 different mergers, retiring from what is now PNC bank. He was an active member of Jaycees, St. Clair Shores for several years. Serving as treasurer, vice president, and president. In his spare time Michael enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and butterfly watching. He was an avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing basketball, and especially golfing. He truly cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, especially watching their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy; children Jennifer Michelle (Armando) Romano, Michael Alexander (Jennifer Elizabeth) Kohlruss; grandchildren, Christian and Kyra Romano, Shelby Kohlruss; siblings, Patricia (Gary) Lintner, Mark Kohlruss; sister-in-law, Janis Kohlruss, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Philip Kohlruss and sister-in-law Lesa Kohlruss.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at 12:00 p.m. at L.C Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, July 26 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
