Max J. Ponczek's Obituary
Max J Ponczek, 95, of St Clair, formerly of Detroit, died Feb 20, 2011. He was born May 12, 1915 in Hamtramck, MI to the late Jacob and Julia Ponczek, and graduated from Detroit Pershing High School in 1933. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from the US Postal Service in Detroit, MI after 47 years of service. He enjoyed golf and photography, and will be remembered for his endearing smile. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Bania, and Elizabeth Ponczek. He is survived by his nephew, Richard (Carole) Bania, nieces, Diane (Ed) Bidigare, and Janice (Keith) Winn, several great nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Feb 23, 2011 at 11:30 am at St Mary Catholic Church in St Clair preceded by one hour of visitation beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
