Mary R. Webster's Obituary
Mary Rea Webster, beloved wife of Jeremy D. Webster, M.D., passed away on July 2, 2008 after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Mary was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 1, 1932. She attended Albion College for two years and then completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education at the University of Michigan in 1954.. That same year, she was married to her life-long love, Jeremy (Jerry) Webster. Mary was an elementary school teacher in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area for several years before she and Jerry moved back to Detroit. They eventually settled in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where they raised their three sons David, John and Stephen.
Throughout her life, Mary was very socially and civic-minded, and was involved with numerous organizations, including: Glee Club, PTA, Planned Parenthood, Delta Gamma Sorority, Junior League of Detroit, Meals on Wheels and the University of Liggett School Alumni Association..
In 1982, Mary and Jerry relocated to St. Clair, Michigan. Mary fell in love with the St. Clair community, and was privileged to have enjoyed many friendships. She was involved in a local investment club and bridge group, and enjoyed the serenity of a small community.
Throughout their marriage, Mary and Jerry traveled extensively, meeting new people and making new friends along the way. She took pride in touching and being a part of many people’s lives. Her passing will be felt by many.
Mary was predeceased by her father, Thatcher W. Rea, Sr., and her mother, Laura B. Rea. She is survived by her beloved husband Jerry, and her loving sons Jeremy D. Webster, Jr.(David), John B. Webster, and Stephen T. Webster. She is also survived by her loving brother, Thatcher W. Rea, Jr. She is further survived by her loving grandchildren, Laura B. Webster, Stephen D. Webster, William T. Webster, and Katherine A. Webster.
Memorial services will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
