Mary Ann Carnahan, age 70, got her angel wings on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
She was born April 2, 1945 in St. Clair to Helen & Joseph Shafer. She married Edward Carnahan in 1963 and devoted her life to her faith, family, and friends. She was described as outstanding, heroic, selfless, kindhearted, strong, loving, patient, caring, and compassionate, along with having an entertaining disposition.
She is survived by her husband, Ed of 51 years and 5 children; Randy (Kellie) Carnahan, Tammy, Danny, Vicki, & Stacey. She also had 2 grandchildren; Randy and Jon Carnahan, whom she loved very much. Mary Ann’s siblings included; Richard Shafer (deceased), Robert (Linda) Shafer, Arthur (Donna) Shafer, Ron (Jennie) Shafer, & Cindy Shafer (deceased). She is preceded in death by her parents Helen (Havens) and Joseph Shafer, step-father, Harry Havens and several close friends.
In her spare time, Mary Ann took joy in supporting her family and friends, volunteering and working at the church, cooking up delicious meals, and offering her services to anyone in need.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary Ann’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at St. Mary’s Church in St. Clair at 11:00. Father Bodde, along with Deacon Bob will be presiding. A luncheon will follow at the Lion’s Club.
The family wishes to extend a huge thank you to all the staff at McLaren Port Huron Hospital that provided such loving care. We also want to extend extra blessings to everyone that supported and continues to support Mary Ann and her family.
