John, I only knew Marlene basically from Fred Cleaver and the auto shows, but found her to be such a warm and friendly person. I just found out she was ill when I tried contacting you about a small class reunion last week and was so sorry to hear it. I won't be able to come to the funeral home since I have a family reunion to attend while my son is here from Washington state, but I will be thinking of you. Francine Minor Warsalla
So very sorry for your loss. Marlene and I worked together at Michigan Bell in 1959. We shared a lot of good times together. Will always remember her as such a good person and so full of fun! Marlene was like a second mom to me since I was in third grade as well as the whole family became my a safe haven a happy place and definitely a huge part of my lifes memories.
Her laughter was so contagious even in her disciplinary actions to meet Andy, her laughter was awesome and that's what I remember the most .what a excellent person I love her I miss her and may God bless her
Among other great attributes, Mrs. Porter was always welcoming. I very much looked forward to visiting Bronwyn's house. Even Bronwyn never knew how much. Mrs. Porter made me feel at home and at ease. As a 17 year old runaway from Florida, I craved and missed my own, stable home environment. Going to Bronwyn's was like being wrapped in a warm blanket. (The taco dip and yummy pie was just a bonus!) Thank you!
Marlene Porter was my neighbor for 10 years. When we were looking at the home (which had been vacant for awhile) she asked, "Whats your name? I'm going to write it down!" I said, "Lisa" and she said, "OMGosh! I wont forget that name, I have a daughter named Lisa!" We moved in and she was such a light in my kids lives. Marlene was thoughtful, sassy, artsy and generous! I think of loud, loving laughter when I think of her. Pinky toe rings and tattoos weren't anything unusual to her as she was ageless and adventurous! God speed Marlene as you rise with the angels to eternal joy & peace. I'm so sorry for those who have lost you -- yet I know your genes and your spirit live on fiercely in your daughters and grand children ❤️
Very sorry to hear the loss of your wife mom and and grandmother, I'll forever have great childhood memories of the times we had together. Marlene was cool, she gave us a lot if leeway lol. I wish that some of the special times we have would last forever.

So sorry to hear about Marlene. I worked with her at the late, great Commercial And Savings and for many years she was my in-laws back yard neighbor. She was always worth coming into work! She was friendly, easy to talk with and always that smile (and yes, lipstick!). She is definitely a life to be celebrated!
