Marilyn Ghekiere's Obituary
Marilyn Ghekiere (Smith), age 83, of Columbus Twp. went to be with the lord surrounded by family on December 9, 2022. She was born December 14, 1938. Marilyn married Francis Ghekiere on May 30, 1958, in Marine City.
Marilyn was an avid cake maker and decorator, she enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, walking, swimming. Marilyn and Francis enjoyed watching baseball together and Ballroom Dancing any place they could. She was an active member of Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus Twp. and helped out the churches Awana Club with the kids. Most of all Marilyn loved and cherished the time she got to spend with her children, grandchildren and family.
She is survived by the love of her life of 64 years, Francis Ghekiere; children, Cheryl (Virgil) Baumgarten, Frank Ghekiere, Kathy (Dan) Stahl, Paul (Kristi) Ghekiere, Julie (Paul) Ghekiere; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Robert “Bud” (Ellie) Smith, Jackie Lester, Mary (Jerry) Rose, Rita (Robert) Rhodes, John P. (Diana) Smith along with several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Margerite Smith and brother-in-law, Robert Lester.
A funeral service will take place Friday December 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus Twp. with visiting Thursday December 15, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. Along with visiting from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at church. Memorials may be made to Wishes of The Family.
