Mr Malcolm G Simons' Obituary
Malcolm George Simons traded this earthly life for a better one
on September 24, 2012. He was born on August 17,1916 in Columbus Twp. to the late Mary Balfour Simons and Fred W. Simons. “Mac” graduated from St. Clair High School, attained an Associates Degree from Port Huron Junior College and a BS in Chemical Engineering with a post graduate certificate in metallurgy from Michigan Agriculture College. He has been a life-long ‘Spartan”. After the Pearl Harbor attack, Mac enlisted in the U. S. Navy as a Lieutenant J.G.. He spent most of WWII at the Brooklyn Navy Yard teaching other officers how to handle weapons aboard ship.
On November 5, 1949 he married Jacquelyn Chaffee. They lived most of their lives together on their farm in Casco Twp. He worked as a metallurgist for Pressed Metals and Mueller Brass in Port Huron and TRW in Warren, with farming his avocation. He served for many years on the East China Board of Education, Casco Twp. Planning Commission, the St. Clair Historical Commission and on various committees at the First United Methodist Church, St. Clair.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, his daughter Dr. Kathryn Simons (Dr. Joseph
Roehl); a grandson Cameron Roehl; his sister Kathleen McComb of Grand Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; daughters Marilee Ann and Melanie Simons; a brother, Gordon Simons, three sisters, Dorothy Tiedt, Ethel and Edna Simons.
Visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM in the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home . In state Friday from 10 AM till service at 11 AM in the First United Methodist Church, St. Clair. Burial in Hillside Cemetery. Memorials to the Blue Water Hospice Home, First United Methodist Church or the St. Clair Historical Museum
