Lucille Anne LaCroix's Obituary
Lucille Anne LaCroix (LaPorte) age 95, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. She was born on May 11, 1923 in St. Clair to Edward and Anne LaPorte (Cantin).
Lucille was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School. Lucille played clarinet for the St. Clair High School Marching Band. As a devote Christian and practicing Catholic, she served on: the Rosary and Alter Societies, funeral and festival committees and choir member. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 95 years. She and Burtin were part of the first and only group to swim across the St. Clair River to Canada. This is where she met her soon to be husband, Burtin LaCroix. She raised 6 children and 4 foster children. While raising the children, she worked from home painting portraits for Askar Shane. She served as Secretary of China Township for many years. She retired after 20 years working as a bus driver for the East China School District. She was a 4-H Leader, talented in playing both clarinet and piano. She enjoyed painting, camping, gardening, canning, music, dancing and was a serious euchre player. She loved to travel and enjoyed many U.S and European destinations over the years creating memories with her sister Theresa and her children. She established and managed many traditions in our family including the LaCroix Christmas Sing-A-Long which has survived over 50 years and continues on in the family tradition.
Lucille is predeceased in death by her husband, Burtin LaCroix, son Edward, brothers Edward and Philip LaPorte, sister Theresa Goulette. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Liniarski (Stan), Yvonne, Janine, Brigitte, and son Andre LaCroix. She is also survived by 19 grand-children and 24 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home, St. Clair and at church a half hour prior to mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Ecumenical Food Pantry, C/O St. Mary Catholic Church, 415 N. Sixth Street, St. Clair, MI 48079.
