Lorraine E. Cronenworth's Obituary
Lorraine E. Cronenworth, of St. Clair, entered eternal life March 16, 2018. Lorraine was born on August 23, 1924 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan to Rose (nee Monton) and Oscar DeBruyne
She was called Grandma C , Grams , or GiGi by neighbors, friends, and family and was known for her love and compassion to all, especially children. She cared deeply for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. After the passing of her daughter-in-law, Anne, she stepped in as mother to her grandchildren Charlie R. and Jacob Cronenworth. She logged endless hours, in any kind of weather, watching her offspring partake in their sporting events.
Lorraine was the oldest child born of Belgian immigrants. Her old world upbringing and her experiences during the Depression shaped her into a strong and self-confident woman.
Lorraine was generous, kind, and quick-witted. A constant presence around St. Clair, she was a force of nature beloved by family, friends, and neighbors. Lorraine lived a strong commitment to her family and her community bested only by her even stronger faith in the Lord. A longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she was active in St. Mary’s School as well as the St. Clair Beautification Committee, Girl Scouts, and River District hospital.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Lorraine was deeply loved and respected, and will be forever missed by all whose lives she touched.
Lorraine is survived by her son Charlie E. Cronenworth and her daughters Mary Deneweth, Linda (Kenneth) Meade, and Carol Todd, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud: Melissa, Kelly, Jessica, Charles, Jacob, Nicholas, Morgan, Chase, Kingsley, and Callahan. Lorraine is preceded to heaven by her best friend and husband, Charles D. Cronenworth, her parents, her sister Bernice Thiron, her daughter-in-law Anne (nee Nolan) Cronenworth, and her son-in-law Robert Deneweth.
