Lawrence A VanTiem's Obituary
Lawrence VanTiem, age 84, a life long resident of St. Clair, died, Thursday, September 1, 2011. He was born January 22, 1927, to the late Bernard and Bernadette VanTiem. Lawrence married Helen Achatz on January 5, 1951 in Detroit. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, and obtained his pilots license through the GI Bill.
Lawrence was a tool and die leader for many years, retiring from Firestone/TRW.
He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture and his membership included the American Legion-Charles Fulton Post in St. Clair, the Pine River Sportsman Club
and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair.
He is survived by his wife Helen, his children, Larry (Penny), Helen (Tom) Kolafa, Mike (Diane), John (Teri). Mark (Karen), Ray (Sharon), Blane (Mary),
Karen (John) Plizga and Ann Marie (Eric) Singer, Mary (Glenn) Arrowood, 27 grand children, and 6 great grand children, and 2 future great grand children, his sister Dorothy Revnew.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Barbara VanTiem, his sister Helen Sterling, and brothers Walter, Carl and Milton VanTiem.
Visitation in the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, Saturday from 5-8 PM and Sunday 1-4 and 6-8 PM with rosary at 8 PM.
In state at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Monday from 10 till 11 AM when mass
Will be held. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials to St. Mary’s School
