Jeff and John, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Thanksgivings with Aunt Joan and family in their house in St. Clair. She was always a gracious host when we stayed at there. She seemed most relaxed while spending time at their cabin on the lake, the perfect spot to enjoy the outdoors. I will miss her quiet, gentleness, and caring.
John it is with deepest sorrow that I write this to you and your family for the loss of your Mother and so close to the loss of your Father. God new that as they were one in life they could not be apart. I cherish all the time we shared working at MSUE. It reminds me of the time that Gloria, you and I went down by the river on a beautiful sunny day in spring for lunch. We sat on a bench by the river and had our lunch. It was such a beautiful day the sun and river. Not a cloud in the sky. I like to call those heavenly days. We got on the subject of prayer. When I had my turn I said that I had a hard time with prayer that I wanted God to tap me on the shoulder whisper in my ear and say "Joanne this is what I want you to do." On the way back to the office a group oh Herring flew over us you could see there shadows. As they flew over us I got a tap, tap, tap on my shoulder. We all laughed and said that was my answer from God. To this day I believe it was. I hope God wraps his arms around you and your family and gives you peace and comfort at this time and always. It is with the deepest of sympathy that I write this post to the family. It is so hard to lose a parent, but loosing both so lose together is so incredibly difficult. I never met any of you, but as a student of your dad, I knew the family had to be terrific because of how he interacting with his students. I am only sorry that I did not meet your mom. Please accept my condolences. Prayers for all of you.
Joan will be remembered in so many different ways, she was so kind and loving and I know made the Lord smile many times because of the Godly woman she was. When they had to leave our Church to move to Port Huron I missed seeing them as I walked through the church doors being greeted by that smiling face of Joans always having something kind to say to brighten my day. She and Jerry are home now together and I am so happy for them. I will always keep alive a part of them in my heart and I look forward to seeing that smiling face again when God calls me home.
So very sorry for your loss. I have many good memories of my Aunt Joanie as a sweet, loving person who cared about everyone. She was a wonderful lady and will always be remembered fondly with love. Thinking of all of you.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful parents. Just read their obits and now fully understand how you turned out to be the exemplary person we all know and respect. Your spiritual path is no surprise when I read all the fine work both of them achieved. I am sorry I cannot attend the funeral since I am in Florida for the Winter.
My parents lived in East China township and upon their passing you were kind enough
to come and pay your respects. Wish I could return the favor.
I will remember then in my prayers.
