Janice E. Nagle Johnson Barrett's Obituary
Janice Nagle Johnson Barrett, 90, passed away on July 30, 2017, in Midland, Michigan. Janice was born on March 21, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Ilda Nagle.
Janice grew up in Detroit. She graduated from Cooley High School. After high school, she attended Wayne State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Janice married Sidney Benjamin Johnson in 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. They were happily married for 41 years. Jan and Ben were dedicated parents and grandparents, who enjoyed spending time with family. Their favorite place to be together was the cottage. Ben passed away in 1991.
Jan and Ben lived for many years in St. Clair, Michigan. Janice ran Chapter One Bookstore in the Riverside Plaza. She also was a 4-H leader and taught many girls how to sew. Jan was generous with her time, home, and resources throughout her life.
Janice is survived by her children, Thomas (Deborah) Johnson, Mary Ellen (Thomas) Trombley, and Douglas (Kathryn) Johnson, as well as many grandchildren, a niece and nephew, an older brother, John, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4th at 12:00 noon at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Clair. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral at Hillside Cemetery in St. Clair.
