Irene Josephine Lukasak's Obituary
Irene Josephine Lukasak, age 96, of St. Clair, passed away January 26, 2024. She was born June 24, 1927 in Detroit to the late Emery and Alice Govaere. Irene married Walter Lukasak October 9, 1948 at St. Mary’s Mystical Rose Catholic Church in Armada, Michigan and Walter preceded her in death on March 20, 1997.
She enjoyed baking and shared her bake goods with many friends and bake sales, her embroidery projects were admired, and gave them to her grandchildren along with donating them to various places for raffle fundraisers. She loved music and playing her accordion, dancing, most importantly she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene and Walter were members of St. Mary’s, St. Clair. She was a former member of the D of I and Rosary altar society, Blue Water polka booster club, PIME mission group, Columbus, MI, ladies K of C Auxiliary #9526, Marysville, Allenton and China Twp. seniors, and volunteered at St. Mary’s taking communion to the homebound.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Jerry) Osterland, Ronald (Sharon) Lukasak, David (Jean) Lukasak; grandchildren, Amy Osterland, Laurie Gaborik, Daniel Osterland, Brian Lukasak, Jeffery Lukasak, Michael Lukasak, Joshua Lukasak, Matthew Lukasak, Bradly Lukasak, Rebecca Lukasak; 18 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Ann Booth, Robert (Marilyn) Govaere, Raymond (Dorothy) Govaere along with many nieces, nephews and special Canadian cousins; close friends Pete (Marilyn) Klama, Earl (Late Delores) Ellis.
She is preceded in death by 3 infant sons; sister, Dorothy VanHoutte, Josephine Raska.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday January 31, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair at 11:00 a.m. with visitation Tuesday January 30, 2024 at L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the PIME Mission Group or the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
