Mr Herbert C. Machleid's Obituary
Herbert C. Machleid passed away on July 7, 2014 at the age of 86. He was a lifelong resident of St. Clair, MI, born on September 3, 1927. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Herb was a postman prior to starting his own successful upholstery business, MACHLEID UPHOLSTERY, which he operated for over 40 years. Herb was known for his handlebar mustache. He enjoyed whittling, crossword puzzles, and traveling. He was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and sang in the men’s choir. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou (Wills) Machleid, his four daughters Sandy (Mike) Tallman, Leslie (Lee) Westrick, Marybeth (George) Folchi, Michelle (Tim) Harris, and by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by grandchildren Eric Tallman, Julia Folchi and his siblings.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church 415 N 9th St., St. Clair MI. Visitation with the family 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Clair Kids in Distress or Immanuel Lutheran Church weekEnd Hunger Program.
