Please accept my condolences on Harry's death. I was his buddy and room-mate at Port Huron Junior College (where he won the all-school public speaking contest) and at Missouri.
We lost track of each other after he and Jan went to Alaska. I sometimes browse the Port Huron Times Herald online, and was saddened to read that Harry had died.
I remember him and his sense of humorfondly, particularly on my birthdays. Early on January 8, 1960, he shook me awake in the $25-a-month cottage we shared and asked with a wicked grin, "How does it feel to be a quarter-century old?" (I am six months older than Harry.)
I was unable to track him down for his fiftieth birthday and revenge, and now, sadly, neither of us will have the chance to remind the other of our passing years. But I still think of him and smile every January 8.
Best regards,
