Harry L. Winston Jr.'s Obituary
Harry Lewis Winston Jr. an admired husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at Holy Cross Hospital on December 1, 2023. He was born on February 26, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lydia Winston Malbin and Harry Lewis Winston. He was also the grandson of prominent Detroit architect, Albert Kahn.
In 1946 he graduated from Deerfield Academy and furthered his education at Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Science. 1953 Harry married his beloved wife, Joan Friederichs and the were married for 63 years. They had two children, Barbara Lydia and Harry Lewis III (Chip). In 1974 they moved to Sea Ranch Lakes, FL.
Art, history, and gardening were Harry's passions. He dearly loved his family and was an inspiration to anyone who met him. Harry was a true gentleman and kindness was one of his greatest attributes.
Harry is survived by his daughter and her husband, Barbara and Harold Hansen, son and his wife, Chip and Paula Winston, and grandson Harry L. Winston IV. He also has two surviving sisters, Sally Winston Robinson, and Ernestine Winston Ruben along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and
great nephews.
