Glenn L. White's Obituary
Glenn L. White, 72, a St. Clair resident for thirteen years, died of natural causes at his home on Monday. A member of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans, Glenn had participated as a member of the honor guard at over seventy-five funerals of fellow veterans. Now the honor guard will bury one of their own. A member of the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954, Glenn was a veteran of the Korean War. His participation in the Allied Veterans the last few years was so important to him, and a source of great pride. He was a true patriot and felt very proud that he was honoring fellow veterans this way. He would often tell how moved he was by the services and how much he felt for the families who had lost a loved one.Glenn had just served as honor guard at a funeral on Saturday.
After leaving the Navy in 1954, Glenn returned to the Detroit area, where he and his wife, Carole, married in 1956. With assistance from the G.I. Bill, Glenn earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University and went on to receive an MBA from the University of Detroit. Glenn began work for Ford Motor Company in 1959, where he continued to work as a financial analyst for thirty years. In 1989, Glenn retired from Ford with a medical disability, and he and his wife, Carole moved to the St. Clair area.
Very active in the local community, Glenn volunteered for several years as a tax preparer for local residents in a program sponsored by the AARP .In addition to his work with the St. Clair County Allied Veterans, Glenn was the president of the River Colony Condominium Association and an avid golfer, even after losing an eye to cancer several years ago.
Glenn is survived by Carole, their six children, Karen (Hotz), Kathy (Gray), Diane (Ulch), Larry, Meg (Hopko), and Trish (Schabath), as well as fifteen grandchildren, Andy, Mark, Joe, Julie, John, Gene, Becky, Erica, Kevin, Kristen, Caitlyn, Emily, Haley, Brendan, and Maddie.
Visitation at L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair ,Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-9 PM.
