We just want the family of Gerry and Joan to know that it was a privilege and joy to know your parents the years we attended Crossroads Community Church! Jeff & John, our condolences on the passing of your father; one of the kindest, smartest men I've ever met and a wonderful influence on my life, my sisters and parents. He was my favorite teacher in high school but I was lucky enough to have known him since I can remember! I remember so fondly camping trips with your family to the Pinery and being guests at his beloved cabin at Tobermory, and even memories of our families getting beagle puppies from the same litter!
I still remember your dad's laugh. He had a wonderful wit and sense of humor! When I see him in my mind's eye he always has a smile on his face. He possessed such a gentle spirit which he shared by his kind treatment to all. His love for your mom and you boys was obvious. They did a wonderful job raising you all. You are wonderful men passing along their legacy. The world is a better place thanks to all of you.
I know dad met him in Heaven with open arms and a big bear hug!

Dear Jeff and family - John and I just had the privilege of visiting with both Jerry and Joan the week before Jerry went to be with the Lord - and just heard of Joan's hospitalization and ultimate "going home" as well. What a precious thing God has done - that they are both united with Christ in their heavenly home. Thank you, Jesus. Joan and Jerry were a part of our small group Bible study for a year or so some years back. We were "taught" a lot from Pastor Jerry and Joan - they were both so knowledgeable re: God's Word. We were blessed with their devotion to one another, always felt loved by them, and by God through them, and were always encouraged by Pastor Jerry's words. We count their friendship a wonderful gift from the Lord. They will be missed - but we rejoice in having had their friendship - and look forward to being reunited with them in Heaven!

I have many fond memories of Mr. Van, from time in his biology class to many Boy Scout camping trips with him and Jim. Truly one of the most intelligent, kind, and honorable men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
