Emily H Legaj's Obituary
Emily H. Legaj age 84 of St.Clair died Monday July 28, 2003 after a short illness.
Mrs. Legaj was born Emily H. Gajor, in Detroit on December 21, 1918. She married John J. Legaj on September 11, 1942 and moved to Ruby, MI. where they owned and operated the Ruby Market from 1955 to 1962. They purchase the Adair Bar in 1965 and operated it until Mr. Legaj’s death in 1970. Mrs. Legaj spent 14 years of her retirement in Zephyr Hills, Florida, returning to her long time hometown in 1997. Emily has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of St. Clair since 1965, a member of the Daughters of Isabella since she was 16, she taught religious education classes and has been active in charitable work throughout her life.
She is survived by her sons Paul J. (Susan Manley) Legaj of Rocky Mount, NC and Michael J.(Constance Uroda/Sands) Legaj of Marysville. 3 grandchildren, John (Molly) Legaj of Kansas City, Paul (Melba) Legaj and Andrea (Keith) Milks 4 great grandchildren Michael S., Joshua & Colin Legaj and Brandon Milks all of NC. 2 sister Stephanie (Cass) Fleszar of Detroit and Charlotte (Floyd) Burgett of Zephy Hills, Florida 2 sister-in-laws, Nellie (John) Tluczek of Detroit and Katherine Gajor of Livonia, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husaband John, she was preceded in death by her brother Walter Gajor and sister Tillie Cybulski.
Visitation, Wednesday 2-9 PM from the L.C.Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair.with Rosary at 8 PM.
