Edward J. LaBelle's Obituary
Edward (Pierre) J. LaBelle ,went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 27,2005 at Medilodge of St Clair. He was born on April 28, 1929 in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts and was very proud of his Indian heritage. After many years as a child moving around the country with his parents he settled down in St Clair, Michigan where he met the love of his life, Doris L. Carson. They were married on June 26, 1948 and together they devoted their lives to raising 6 loving children. He was employed at the Diamond Crystal Salt Company for many years before becoming a member of Pipe fitters Local 636 and retiring in June of 1991. In his retirement he thoroughly enjoyed collecting treasurers from garage sales and was an avid hunter.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles Edward LaBelle and Patricia Smith, a grandson, Jeremiah Mumford and a great-grandson, Ethan Mehlberg.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 57 years, Doris L. LaBelle; sister, Edna (Gordon) Chapman; daughters and son-in-Iaws, Cheri (Ronald) Mumford; Deborah (Richard) Mehlberg; and Denise (Craig) Sickles; daughter, DeAnn Kindsvater; sons and daughter-in-Iaws, Edward J. (Kimberly) LaBelle, Jr.; Steven V. (Joanne) LaBelle; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Left to miss his "cereal milk and affection" is his special companion "Peachy". He now soars with the eagle.
Visitation 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and Wednesday in the L.C.Friederichs & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 :00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1st at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he was a member for many years, the Rev. Alan Schwieger officiating with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Pallbears will be his grandsons, Matthew Mehlberg, Joshua Mehlberg, Gabriel Mehlberg, Edward J. LaBelle III, Brandon LaBelle and Jordan Kindsvater. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Heart Association
