Donald F. Ameel's Obituary
Donald F. Ameel age 85 of St. Clair died Friday, April 25, 2003. Don was born April 19, 1918 in Marine City to the late Louis and Pearl Ameel. Don was a veteran of WWII with the Merchant Marine serving in the Pacfic. He married Viola Greaux February 8, 1941, and Viola died October 16, 2000. Don owned St Clair Designing Service in St. Clair for many years. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair, serving as an usher, a member of St. Vincent DePaul, and K of C Council #2251. He also was a volunteer at Faith Medical Center and with the St. Clair Historical Society.
Don is survived by 3 sons, Frederick (Karalee), Robert (Mary Ann) and Alan (Kathleen)
Ameel, one daughter Julie Ameel, Grandchildren Jeffry & Lane Ameel, Kimberly Ann Ameel, Jennifer Chickonoski, Robert C., Frederick W., Susan, and Timothy Ameel, John and Ann Marie Castillo, and Kelly Smydra. Great grand children Nathan, Clayton, Madison & Paige Ameel, Teddy Chickonoski, Emily & Madeliene Castillo, Miles Smydra. 2 brothers Bernard and Leo, and a sister Barbara also survive. In addition to Don’s wife Viola, he was preceded in death by a daughter Donna (John) Castillo, 2 brothers Carson & Gerald Ameel, and sister Betty Eddy.
Visitation Saturday 4-8 PM and Sunday 2-8 P.M. , with rosary at 8PM from the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home. Funeral Mass 10 AM Monday, from St. Mary’s, St. Clair. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials to St. Mary’s, Alzheimer’s Association or St. John’s Hospice.
