Donald Chase Edmonson's Obituary
Donald Chase Edmonson age 82 of St. Clair died Thursday February 19, 2004. He was born March 3, 1921 in Ann Arbor, the adopted son of James B. Edmonson, (former Dean of Education at the University of Michigan) and Bess Chase in 1922. Don graduated from University High School in Ann Arbor in 1939 and received his BS degree from Miami University, oxford Ohio and Masters from the University of Michigan. He was a veteran of WWI serving as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps, earning the battle star and meritorious unit citation while serving in the Pacific. Don married Jeanne Evans White, July 14, 1944 and she died in 1985. The family moved to St. Clair in 1948, during which Don served as Vocational Coordinator, St. Clair Area Schools, then Production Manger for Diamond Crystal Salt, Executive of, R.L. Polk, Detroit, then VP and Partner in Edison-Stanhope management consulting firm, New York, and retiring in 1988 as a Bank Management Consultant. He was member of the First Congregational Church in St. Clair over 50 years, serving on the Religious Education Committee, church council, as Deacon, Elder and youth group Chaperon. Don was an avid Great Lakes sailor and boater, A Charter member of the Otsi Keta Yacht Club, the Antique and Classic Boat Society, and the River District Hospital Auxiliary. He is survived by his children, Ann (Steve) Hudy, Redmond, WA, D. Chase (Beth) Edmonson Jr., Pittsburgh, PA., James B. (Allison) Edmonson, Muskegon, MI. and Mark (Debbie) Edmonson, Lexington, MI. 12 grand children and special friend Helen F. Wheeler. In addition to his wife Jeanne, he was preceded in death by sister Jane Edmonson Lewis in 1962. Friday visitation from the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
