Donald Edward Ellis' Obituary
Donald Edward Ellis, 94, of Rapid City, Michigan passed away July 20, 2023.
He was born to the late Raymond Everett and Olga (Fedrigon) Ellis on September 9, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan.
He was preceded in death on March 25, 2017 by his wife Margaret (Magers) Ellis. They lived in Allen Park, MI for over 30 years, where he was a teacher and Junior High School principal. They moved to Torch Lake after Don’s retirement in 1986. Don was raised in St. Clair, Michigan where he became the senior class president, captain of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan. Don enjoyed playing various card games including bridge, euchre, and cribbage. He was also active in a number of activities including bowling, tennis, hunting, fishing, and boating.
Donald is survived by his daughters; Patti (Jack Jensen) Ellis and Nancy Ellis, sons; David (Judy) Ellis and Dan (Sharon) Ellis, four grandchildren; Kelly, James, Bernard, and Abigail, and five great grandchildren; Allison, Selena, Colton, Jackson, and Landen. Special thanks to the staff at Maple Ridge Manor in Lowell, Michigan for the attention and wonderful care Don received while living there since October 2020.
A graveside service for both Donald and Margaret will take place on Saturday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.
