Deanna Campbell's Obituary
Deanna Campbell died unexpectedly January 27, 2007 in her home. She was born March 7, 1938 to the late Julien and Sara (Buyse) DeMeyer Zimmer. She married Robert A. Campbell on June 1, 1957. He passed away October 14, 2001. Together, they owned and operated C & R Machine Products.
Deanna graduated from St. Stephens High School in Port Huron in 1955. She was president of the Camp Fire Girls in St. Clair for many years. Deanna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Church Parish Council, St. Mary’s School Board and Daughter’s of Isabella. Also, she worked on the St. Mary’s Church Fall Festival for many years. She, along with her husband, enjoyed coaching their daughters’ little league baseball teams for several years and camping with their girls. She looked forward to going to Bingo in Marysville and St. Clair.
Deanna was employed at Mercy Hospital first in the 1950’s as an aide in the Emergency Department. She enjoyed being a homemaker, but decided to go back to college at the age of 40 to pursue her degree in Nursing, graduating as an R.N. She was employed with Mercy Hospital, Port Huron, Yale Hospital, Yale, and Mallinckrodt Nuclear Pharmacy, Warren.
Deanna also spent time collecting goods for the St. Clair County Humane Society to show her love for animals.
Deanna is survived by her four daughters, Nancy (Michael) Klug, St. Clair, Carol (Scott) Miller, Port Huron, Kathleen Powell, Marysville, and Mary (Kevin) Freeman, Rockford. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Patrick and Amanda Klug, Robert and Sara Miller, Chirstine Powell, and Matthew and Christopher Freeman.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Allen and James Robert and a granddaughter, Anna Marie Freeman.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the St. Clair County Humane Society or the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
Visitation is at the L.C. Friederichs and Son Funeral Home Monday from 7:00PM until 9:00PM and Tuesday from 2:00PM until 4:00PM and 7:00PM until 9:00PM, scripture service at 7:30. Deanna will lie in state at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30AM until Mass at 10:00AM. Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
