Charles N Alley, 72, died peacefully at his home in Mancelona Michigan on April 3,2007
Charles was born on July 6, 1934 in Wayne County Tennessee, the sixth of seven children to Oliver Earl Alley Sr. and Fanny Myrtle Moore. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State College, he, his wife, Ann Stribling and daughter moved to St. Clair Michigan in 1957 to pursue a career in education. Beginning as a Physical Education Teacher at Eddy Elementary, Charles moved to the then new St. Clair High school as an Industrial Arts Instructor as well as the Junior Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach. In 1973 he was promoted to Assistant Principal of St. Clair High School then in 1976 Principal of Ward Cottrell Elementary as well as Cherry Beach Elementary. He finished his career in education as the Principal of Belle River Elementary until his retirement. He was also very involved in the community, coaching many youth baseball teams.
Charles is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Ann, children Suzanne (Kenny) Wilson of Hattiesburg Mississippi, Mike (Karyn) Alley of St. Clair, Mark (Cassie) Alley of Lansing, Grandchildren David (Julie) Alley of Grand Blanc, Matthew and Michael Alley of St. Clair, Amy Wilson of Hattiesburg, Alys and Charles Alley of Lansing, brother JW (Wilton) Alley of Linden Tennessee, sisters Katherine (Opal) Pleasant of Savannah Tennessee, Margaret Wheat of Clifton Tennessee, Sue Alley of St. Petersburg Florida and brother-in-law Jerry Riddell of Savannah Tennessee as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. His parents, brother Earl Alley Jr. and sister Mary Ann Riddell predeceased him. He will be remembered as a man that would drop anything for a friend and touched the lives of thousands of kids.
Visitation L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with service 11 AM Saturday in the Funeral Home Burial in Rosehill
