Alice B. Walters' Obituary
Alice B. Walters age 93 of Port Huron died Monday October 28,2002. Alice was born November 24, 1908 in China Twp. to the late Willie and Lillie Walters. She graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo with a teaching degree. In the beginning of her career she taught in one room country school houses, she then taught Home Economics to the Junior High grades, retiring in 1972
from Fort Gratiot after 33 years of teaching. During her early year of teaching Alice was Director of Camp Playfair, which was a summer camp for Girl Scouts. For a short time she also operated the Two Sister’s Café in Port Huron with her sister Frances Taylor . Alice enjoyed crocheting and making quilts for the Church and was a life member of St. Peter''s Lutheran Church, St Clair.
She is survived by brothers Raymond (Verda) Walters and Melvin (Irene) Walter of St. Clair, Harold Walters of Mahapac, New York; sisters Evelyn Emig of St. Clair, Inez (Robert) Abbott of Harrison Twp., and Florence Sass of Marysville, several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother Norman Walters and Sister Florence Taylor.
Visitation Wednesday 2-9 PM from the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St.Clair Thursday visitation at St. Peter''s Lutheran church from 10 AM till service at 11. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, with memorials to St. Peter''s Lutheran church
