Mrs Gladys A Kavanaugh

Gladys A. Kavanaugh lived life in this world to the fullest for 89 years and began her life in heaven on January 19, 2014. She was born in Detroit on April 28, 1924 to the late Alfred and Anna Frohriep. Gladys married Thomas F. Kavanaugh on June 18, 1949. Gladys was a Braille transcriber for 20 years, receiving the Library of Congress Award for her work. She also worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Comp. and at Bethany Lutheran School. Gladys was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Clair, serving on the Ladies Aide, delivering church tapes to shut-ins, Vacation Bible School and was the Church Extension Representative. She was active in Lutheran Brotherhood, Meals on Wheels and was an Election officer for over 50 years. Gladys loved to travel the world including visiting 5 continents. She leaves her sons Thomas (Catherine) Kavanaugh and Michael (Martha) Kavanaugh, daughter, Kathryn (Dr. Steven) Ledtke; grandchildren David (April), Thomas, and Matthew (Teresa) Kavanaugh, Dr. Christopher (Elizabeth) Ledtke, Autumn (Adam) Roberts, Allison (Craig) Murray, Ashley Ledtke and Jackie Zimmer; 8 great grand children; and special close friend Harry Schott. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, brother Alfred and beloved grandson Steven. Visitation Monday from 3-8 PM in the L.C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair. In state Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10 AM until service at 11 AM. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Ladies Aide.
